Carla Wilson, Principal
Mrs. Carla Wilson continues her service with Bullitt County Public Schools as the new principal of Freedom Elementary School. Mrs. Wilson brings with her 28 years of experience in education, with 20 of those being in BCPS. She has experience in a variety of areas including time spent serving as a teacher, Instructional Coach, and a Kentucky Reading Project Instructor through the University of Louisville. Mrs. Wilson has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, two master’s degrees in Reading Instruction and School Administration, and is both a National Board Certified Teacher and PhD Candidate in Curriculum and Instruction.
She is so excited about joining the Freedom family and eagerly anticipates meeting everyone. She looks forward to being in classrooms and helping to make Freedom a great place to learn.
Mrs. Wilson and her husband, Matt, have 2 children, Austin (Shelby) and Maddie (Patrick), and 3 beautiful grandchildren. In her free time, Carla loves to shop, travel, and spend time with her family, especially those grandkids.

Jessica Emerson, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Emerson graduated from Campbellsville University in 2008 with an Elementary Education degree. From 2010-2020, she taught in Henderson County, Ky as an intermediate teacher. Afterwards, she was an Instructional Coach for a year and then the Assistant Principal for two years in Henderson. She am starting on my 13th year in education
Mrs. Emerson received her Master’s from the University of the Cumberlands in Teacher Leadership, my Rank I from Eastern Kentucky University in Administration, and my Level 2 Certification in Administration, Supervisor of Instruction, and DPP from Murray State University. She is currently working on my dissertation for my Doctorate in P-20 Leadership through Murray State University and hopes to finish in fall of 2024.
She is so excited to join the Freedom Elementary family and call Bullitt County Schools my home. She hopes to impact our school community by always keeping our students first and at the heart of everything we do. Her desire is to serve our students, staff, and families to help them be successful, so their greatness can shine bright.

Alexandria LeGrand, Counselor
Hello Freedom Community! I’m Alex LeGrand, your new school counselor at Freedom Elementary. While this is my first year at Freedom, I bring three years of counseling experience from both middle and elementary schools in Juneau, AK, and diverse school levels in Lafayette, LA. I earned my Bachelor's in Education from the University of Louisville in 2019 and my Master's in School Counseling from Capella University in 2022.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our one-year-old son Finnley, and our cats, as well as reading and taking walks. I’m excited to support our students and families this year, so please feel free to reach out anytime!
Shelby Pike

Shelby Pike, Instructional Coach
Mrs. Pike graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and from the University of Louisville with a Master's in Special Education with a Concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorder and Applied Behavior Analysis. Shelby has been a teacher in BCPS for 8 years at Freedom Elementary School. During her time at Freedom, she has been part of leadership roles including PLC Team Leader, PBL Lead, a Teacher Mentor, and provided PBL and Math professional learning to her staff.
