School Safety & Mental Health
The Safe and Drug-Free Schools Department supports all BCPS schools in areas of school safety, behavior, emergency management, mental health, and prevention services for students, which include providing multi-tiered systems of support in behavior and mental health for students. This department also supports staff with appropriate policy and procedures regarding student behavior infractions and updates the student Code of Conduct; provides guidance and legislative updates on school emergency plans; and serves as a liaison to the Bullitt County Partners in Prevention Coalition as well as the Bullitt County Youth Coalition and all law enforcement agencies as a point of contact for all School Resource Officers in the buildings.
“I am a Bullitt County native, a product of the school system, and very proud to be a representative of the community in safety and security,” says Director Sarah Smith. “Students Matter Most, and each of this Department’s decisions revolves around that one thing.”
The Department focuses on PBIS, mental health support for students, and building security by partnering with the Maintenance and Technology Departments to provide secure buildings that have up-to-date technology and security. This security keeps our students safe and our buildings a place our community can be proud of.
At Bullitt County Public Schools, we work very hard to provide resources and support for our students in an ever-changing world. Included on this site are programs and resources that we already have in place to support our students at every level, for every need they have. BCPS does not offer any services related to human sexuality, contraception, or family planning.
