Dr. Amy Compton will be joining the staff of Bullitt County Public Schools as their new Director of Secondary Education.
Though new to the district, Dr. Compton brings with her 25 years of experience in education with experience in a variety of roles including time spent serving as an instructional assistant, teacher, guidance counselor, and principal. As principal, her school was named a Model High School from the International Center for Leadership in Education. Dr. Compton has been privileged to speak at regional, state and national levels on topics such as creating innovative opportunities for students, developing career pathways while partnering with community industry leaders, and increasing the number of students earning college credits while in high school. Dr. Compton is also certified in Cognitive Coaching for teachers and school administrators and is a trainer for Kagan Professional Development. Dr. Compton earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Western Kentucky University.
Dr. Compton says, “I am looking forward to serving the principals and students of Bullitt County Public Schools. I want to support them to create the schools they dream of having. I hope to help them reach the level of excellence and opportunity they desire.”
Dr. Compton’s passion is creating opportunities for all kinds of students whether they desire to go straight into the workforce, the military, or attend a post secondary institution. Her main goal is for students to have more choices and opportunities in life than they did when they started school.
Amy is happily married to her husband, Will (MWMS and BEHS alumnus), who is an assistant principal at Highland Elementary in Glasgow, KY. The couple has four sons, two of which currently attend Western Kentucky University, one is a senior, and the other is a sophomore. Amy has previously served as the Glasgow Barren County Chamber of Commerce President and she continues to serve as an Ambassador. In 2022, she was given the Distinguished Woman Award by the local Business and Professional Women’s league.
