April 2025 – Bullitt County, KY
Bullitt County Public Schools is excited to officially welcome a new (and furry) member to the school nutrition team: Mealton the Meerkat!
Mealton has been custom-created just for BCPS, and he is on a mission to make school meals more fun, engaging, and meaningful for every student. Whether it is a high-four in the lunch line, a fun food fact in the classroom, or a surprise appearance in the cafeteria, Mealton is here to cheer students on and help make mealtime one of the most memorable parts of the day.
“As the face of our department, Mealton represents more than just a fun mascot. He embodies our commitment to student success, connection, and wellness,” said Todd Crumbacker, Director of School Nutrition Services. “His energy and enthusiasm reflect our district's dedication to serving healthy, delicious meals and creating a positive experience around food and nutrition.”
Mealton will soon begin making appearances throughout the district. Students and families can expect to see him on posters, in classrooms, across school cafeterias, and on social media, bringing smiles and valuable nutrition tips to the entire BCPS community.
Mealton is more than just fun. He also supports our BCPS Core Values, such as Service Before Self and Future Focused, and reflects the competencies in our Graduate Profile, including being a Community Contributor and an Effective Communicator. Through every interaction, Mealton encourages students to connect, make healthy choices, and build positive routines around food.
Be on the lookout for Mealton popping up in your school soon. And remember, when it comes to school meals and smiles, “Mealton Makes It Matter!”
