We’re excited to announce our participation in Digital Citizenship Week, which takes place this week (October 14-18, 2024). This nationwide initiative is designed to teach students and families how to use technology responsibly and safely in an increasingly digital world.
Throughout the week, BCPS will share valuable resources and tips with families to support students in developing digital citizenship skills that will help them navigate the internet, social media, and online communication safely and respectfully. The goal is to empower students to be informed, ethical digital citizens while fostering positive digital habits.
"As technology becomes more integrated into our daily lives, it's crucial that we provide our students and families with the tools and knowledge to thrive in an online environment," said Dr. Jesse Bacon, BCPS Superintendent. "This week allows us to focus on teaching important skills like privacy protection, respectful communication, and how to critically evaluate information - which aligns with our district’s value of always being Future Focused."
Families can visit our district’s website and social media pages throughout the week for daily updates, including tips and resources to help support safe and responsible digital habits at home.
Let’s work together to help our students become smart, safe, and ethical digital citizens!
