ATTENDANCE MATTERS

08/18/2023

Nichols Knights Families,

Our first full week of school is officially in the books!  It’s been wonderful!  Everyone is settling into their new routines.  This week we conducted all of our beginning of the year emergency drills.  On Tuesday we did our earthquake and tornado drills.  On Wednesday we had our bus drills.  And on Thursday we did our lock down drill and fire drill.  We will do one more fire drill next week to meet the emergency preparedness requirements.  Please talk to your child about why safety drills are so important.  Thank you for your partnership!

The Student handbook was shared on Class Dojo, can be found on the Nichols website, and is linked here.  Each week at the beginning of the year, I will share a couple of tidbits from the Student handbook that answer questions we have been getting phone calls about. This week’s tidbit is about dress code:

  • Students are not allowed to wear shorts/pants with holes that expose skin.

  • Shorts and skirts must be a reasonable length, 3”-4” in length. (This would put them at or below the fingertips when arms hang straight down.)

I know this may be difficult if your daughter has super long legs like mine did.  But, please just take a look each morning and make sure that everything is covered, even when bending over.  Thank you so much for your help with this.  If you have questions, please feel free to reach out.

I hope you and your child have a wonderful start to this new school year.  Always remember that you can call, email, or message in Dojo, when you have questions or concerns.  And if you need to come in for a conversation, we’ll set up a time for that as well.  Welcome to Nichols!  Go Knights!
