Nichols Knights Families,
I hope everyone was able to enjoy the beautiful weather last weekend. It was so nice to have the extra time to relax and enjoy family and friends. And this weekend is going to be beautiful too! What a wonderful time of year!
The Student handbook was shared on Class Dojo, can be found on the Nichols website, and is linked here. Each week at the beginning of the year, I will share a couple of tidbits from the Student handbook to answer questions we have been getting phone calls about.
This week’s tidbit is about:
ATTENDANCE
We appreciate phone calls in the morning to let us know the reason your child will be absent. Please continue to do that. However, Infinite Campus now automatically calls home for each absent child between 11:00 and 11:30. After receiving the automated message, please call school to let us know why your child is out. If you have already called the school that morning, there is no need for you to call again.
A note from the parent or guardian explaining each absence will be expected upon the student’s return to school. When a child sees a doctor, a dentist, or goes to a funeral home, you will need to get a note from that office and send it to school when the child returns. We need notes even if you call the school and notify us of the absence or sign your child in or out during the school day.
There is a limit of 6 parent notes and 10 doctor notes each school year.
All absences beyond the six days using parent notes must have a note from a health care professional. Each day absent will count as another note - 3 days will count as 3 parent notes.
