ATTENDANCE MATTERS
09/22/2023
Nichols Knights Families,
I hope you have been able to enjoy yet another beautiful week. Staff and students have really appreciated the weather being a little cooler while they are outside for wellness. The sunshine and fresh air have been wonderful!
Please don’t forget, Fall Pictures will be taken this coming Monday, September 25th.
The three High School Athletic Directors would like to know if any of the elementary schools are interested in starting a basketball league for 4th/5th grade boys and for 4th/5th grade girls. We need to know if enough families are interested in order to form a team(s) for Nichols. Practices would be at Nichols once or twice a week. Games would be played at Bullitt Central High School each weekend. This year the season would run from mid February up to Spring Break. Please complete this 4th/5th Basketball Interest Survey if you are interested in your child playing basketball.
The Student handbook was shared on Class Dojo, can be found on the Nichols website, and is linked here. Each week at the beginning of the year, I will share a couple of tidbits from the Student handbook to answer questions we have been getting phone calls about.
This week’s tidbit is about:
ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE
Doors open for students to enter the building at 8:40.
Car Riders are dropped off and enter through the back door (#3).
Bus riders enter through the front door (#1).
The tardy bell rings at 9:10 to signal the start of the day. If you arrive after 9:10, you will need to come inside and sign your child in.
At 3:50 dismissal begins. Car riders are called and dismissed out the back door (#3) near the gym.
Bus riders gather in the cafeteria in lines by bus.
As each bus arrives students are called and dismissed out the front door (#1).
Dismissal is typically over by 4:10.
Please plan appointments accordingly so your student does not have to be checked out early. Early check-outs will not be allowed after 3:30.
If your child has a transportation change, please send a note to school.
If your child’s transportation changes during the day, please call the school and then follow up with an email or a message in Dojo to Mrs. Peggy Ernspiker or Ms. Maggie Bledsoe.
Upcoming dates:
