ATTENDANCE MATTERS

09/29/2023

Nichols Knights Families,

I hope you have been able to enjoy yet another beautiful week.  Staff and students have really appreciated the weather being a little cooler while they are outside for wellness.  The sunshine and fresh air have been wonderful!

Fall Pictures were taken on Monday, September 25th.  If your child was absent, we will have a picture re-take day on Monday, November 13th.

The three High School Athletic Directors would like to know if any of the elementary schools are interested in starting a basketball league for 4th/5th grade boys and for 4th/5th grade girls.  We need to know if enough families are interested in order to form a team(s) for Nichols.  Practices would be at Nichols once or twice a week.  Games would be played at Bullitt Central High School each weekend. This year the season would run from mid-February up to Spring Break. Please complete this 4th/5th Basketball Interest Survey if you are interested in your child playing basketball.  The results we have received so far:  six 5th-grade boys, one 5th-grade girl, one 4th-grade boy, and two 4th-grade girls.  I will share the information with the District Athletic Director and keep you posted as I learn more.

The Student Handbook was shared on Class Dojo, can be found on the Nichols website, and is linked here.  Each week at the beginning of the year, I will share a couple of tidbits from the Student handbook to answer questions we have been getting phone calls about.

This week’s tidbit is about:

VISITORS

  • PICTURE ID is REQUIRED for anyone entering the building or picking up a child.  The name on  your ID must match the name on the authorized list.

  • All visitors, including parents, must sign in at the front office and receive a visitor’s badge or pass before reporting to any area within the building.  The ID must be scanned using the authorized software.  There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • Parents wishing to eat lunch with their child must call the school ahead of time to make a reservation.  (If you are coming to Lunch with Someone Special, you do not have to call that day. We will already have the RSVP you submitted electronically.) Parents may not bring restaurant food to their child for lunch.  Parents may begin visiting for lunch after Labor Day. The rule prohibiting outside food also applies to breakfast.
