Beginning on Sept. 22nd, 2025 , our PE classes will participate in an in-house skating program. Roller skates will be delivered directly to the school. Permission slips will be coming home this week. They will be due Wednesday 9/3. Students will need to pay to rent the skates - $15 cash/check or $16 if paying online. All info is on the permission slip. Money and permission slip must be turned in. If you pay online, please note that on the signed permission slip.

Mrs. Schwartz’s class worked together on the Marble Challenge today. Students were tasked with getting a marble from a starting point to an ending point working together. They learned a lot about team work, as well as working through frustrations. Keep it up fifth graders!

Welcome back, Mustangs! We are excited for another great year!

The safety of our students is paramount to us at Overdale Elementary. Please read some important safety updates as we start our year.

First, we want to remind families that car drop off begins at the front of the school at 8:30 AM. Drivers should enter in TWO lines, and merge into one at the very end (east end) of the school parking lot. When circling around to drop off, please pull all the way down to the end of the drop off lane (towards Brookley Dr.). This allows us to unload 10-11 cars at a time. Students should unload on the driver's side of the vehicle quickly, taking all belongings from inside the car (not the trunk).

Secondly, on the first day of school, parents will not be able to walk students to classrooms. This helps keep our school safe. However, a parent may walk a student into our lobby and snap a first day of school photo. Kindergarten and new students will be escorted to their rooms by staff. Your Overdale PTO is providing a small breakfast treat to kindergarten parents in the media center after lobby drop off.

Lastly, this year, we have a drop off cart set up in the foyer. If your student forgot something or you need to drop something off to a teacher, simply ring the bell and state your purpose, enter the foyer, and place the item on the cart, using the post it note and provided pen to label the item for your child.

We are excited for this year and hope these added safety measures help us provide an amazing experience for all! Please let us know if you have any questions.
