Today our Old Mill family teamed up for safety! Students and staff showed their spirit by dressing in their favorite team gear to take a stand against drugs and make safe, healthy choices.
💛 Tomorrow we’ll be someone’s sunshine! Wear yellow to spread kindness, positivity, and joy across the halls!
This week's staff spotlight goes out to Mrs. Foushee. She has been working hard behind the scenes on our Unified Champions initiatives, helping make Old Mill a place where every student feels included and celebrated. Her dedication and heart ensure that all of our kids have the support and opportunities they need to succeed. We’re so thankful for her passion and commitment to our students and school community! 💙
Last Monday, our 3rd–5th grade students kicked off their next Learning Excursion with three special guests: the Louisville Water Company, the City of Mount Washington, and students from the BE Ag Team. Each shared how their work helps support our driving question: “How can I use my talents to encourage others to care for the Earth?” This exciting question will guide students as they explore and create during the next eight weeks of Learning Excursions.

🎯 Congratulations to the OMES 2025–2026 Archery Team! 🎯
We’re excited to kick off an amazing season with our talented archers! Our first practice will be Wednesday, October 29th, after school until 5:30 PM, followed by a required parent meeting at 5:30 PM.
Student fees will be collected at the parent meeting, so be sure to have those ready. Please check your rooms account for more information and details.
We can’t wait to see our archers in action and aim for an incredible season ahead! 🏹

This morning, 7th and 8th grade band students from Mount Washington Middle visited OMES to play some of their concert pieces for our 4th and 5th graders! They also shared their knowledge about different band instruments and what it’s like to be part of the middle school band.

When Memphis notices a classmate with untied shoes, he’s quick to lend a helping hand — not only by tying them so no one falls, but also by teaching others how to tie their own shoes! He patiently practices with them until they’ve got it down. 👟💙
Memphis is showing what it means to be a true Community Contributor — caring for others and helping his classmates learn new skills!

🌟 OMES Community Spotlight: Dr. Lewis Inspires 4th Graders! 🌟
We were thrilled to welcome Dr. Lewis to OMES to kick off our 4th grade Project Lead the Way unit on the brain! 🧠 During her visit, students explored the different functions of the brain through hands-on experiences, engaging stories, and interactive activities that made learning come alive.
Dr. Lewis helped students dive into the driving question: “How does our brain help us understand, remember, and react to the world around us?” Her visit encouraged curiosity, collaboration, and communication as students began thinking like scientists and preparing to build their own brain models.
We can’t wait for Dr. Lewis to return so our students can teach her what they’ve learned and show off their models!

Our girls and boys teams kicked off the season today and played their hearts out! 🏀 We are so proud of them!
