This week's student spotlights go out to Liam and Lincoln. "Our class was making Christmas cards for a fellow Koala who is in the hospital. These boys felt that they wanted to do a little more and decided they wanted to give away their desk pets to this student, as well. Liam and Lincoln worked hard to earn their desk pets this year, so they are prized possessions. These boys wanted to give a gift from their hearts." -Mrs. Watson

Our 1st graders are getting into the holiday spirit with an exciting PBL project! 🎶✨ Their Driving Question: How can we, as composers, use sensory and feeling words to create a song that describes the sights and sounds of Christmas? Through this project, they are exploring creativity, language, and music to bring the magic of the season to life. We can’t wait to see (and hear!) what they compose! Stay tuned for their festive masterpieces! 🎄🎵

The 2024 OMES Nutcracker performance was a dazzling showcase of talent and collaboration, featuring approximately 125 student performers. The production also included three students from the photography club, highlighting the inclusive spirit of the event. Parent volunteers played a vital role in supporting the show, while Mrs. Biglari served as the creative force behind this unforgettable production. Thank you so much to everyone that came out to see our show.

This week's student spotlight goes out to Emilee Hoffman. "She is an outstanding example of an effective communicator and a productive collaborator. She consistently goes out of her way to support others, embodying the qualities of a true role model for her peers. Recently, Emilee noticed a friend without a partner and immediately stepped in to ensure everyone had a chance to participate and share. Her kindness, inclusivity, and willingness to help reflect her heart of gold and make her a shining star in our school community." -Mrs. Compton

Over the past few weeks, 4th grade students have been diving into Plant and Animal Mysteries, applying their knowledge of structures and functions to solve challenging animal health scenarios. Given cases where animals faced unique problems, students analyzed symptoms, explored the potential role of plants, and developed thoughtful treatment plans. They diagnosed their animals' issues, provided reasoning for their conclusions, and researched ways to heal their patients. This week, the project reached an exciting milestone with a visit from Dr. Ingram, Mrs. Amanda, and Maple Bacon, the golden retriever, from Elk Creek Animal Hospital. The vet team gave students a behind-the-scenes look at their work, demonstrated how to perform a dog exam, and offered valuable insights into animal care. Students had the incredible opportunity to present their treatment plans and receive feedback, showcasing just how much they’ve learned! This project exemplifies authentic learning at its best, with students building on all Graduate Profile components and shining as Mastery Learners! Amazing work, 4th grade!
