We are closely monitoring the ongoing water main issues in the Mt. Washington community. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We are in constant contact with city officials on the situation. A final decision on whether schools will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, August 20, will be announced by 5:00 AM. We understand this uncertainty is difficult for planning and we deeply appreciate your patience and partnership.

Thank you for your understanding as we navigate an urgent situation in our community. A major water main break has left our schools without running water, functioning toilets, or HVAC systems. With outside temperatures nearing 90 degrees, it is not safe to keep buildings open for students and staff.

As a result, all Bullitt County Public Schools will be closed today, August 19. This is not an NTI day. At this time, we do not have a timetable for when service will be restored, but we will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as quickly as possible.
High school students who were already in transit this morning are being returned home by bus.

We recognize the disruption this causes for families, and we are deeply grateful for your flexibility and patience as we work through this challenge. Please continue to check district communication channels for the latest information.

BCPS showed up in full force at this year’s KASA Annual Leadership Institute!

Our team shared powerful strategies for building community partnerships, designing innovative learning spaces, and aligning education with what truly matters for students. Sessions led by BCPS staff and district partners highlighted everything from virtual reality and natural playgrounds to culture-building and measurement systems that reflect our local community's hopes and dreams.

Even more inspiring? Our students took center stage and represented our district with pride through JROTC, choir, and band performances that reminded everyone why we do this work.
