🍴🔬 Science + Cooking = Engaging Learning at Bullitt Lick Middle School!
Check out the amazing work happening at BLMS through Bite Scized Education, where students are learning science through food-based phenomena! Recently featured on Bite Scized’s Instagram, BLMS students kicked off the year with the flour and flatbread lesson—exploring precision, accuracy, and measurement in a hands-on way that connects science to their everyday lives.
We love seeing our students engage in Authentic Learning Experiences that align with our Graduate Profile competencies, making science relevant, meaningful, and fun! 🧑🍳🔬

🏆 We are so proud of our BCPS McKinney-Vento program for being one of only 8 districts selected to present at the 2024 KDE Homeless Education Conference in Lexington! Our team received great feedback on the work we're doing to raise awareness, provide outreach, and deliver professional development to support students experiencing homelessness.

🌟 Staff Spotlight 🌟
Today, we're celebrating Shawna, who joined Maryville as a substitute at the beginning of the school year and has made a tremendous impact ever since! 🎉
Here in BCPS, we deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of our substitutes, and Shawna is a shining example of how vital they are to our success.
As her colleague Kate shared, "From the start, Shawna has been hard-working, full of ideas, and has built a wonderful classroom community with her students. She contributes so much to our first-grade team, and we are so thankful to have her with us at Maryville!" 🍎💡
Thank you, Shawna, and all of our incredible substitutes, for stepping in, stepping up, and making a lasting difference for our students! ❤️

🎶🎨🎭📚 It's National Arts in Education Week! 🎶🎨🎭📚
Here in BCPS, the arts are more than just subjects—they are a vital part of our mission to develop well-rounded students who are creative, critical thinkers, and confident leaders. Engaging in the arts empowers students to explore their talents, build resilience, and enhance their problem-solving skills. 📊💡
Research shows that students involved in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement and develop strong social and emotional skills. 🧠✨
By nurturing creativity through music, visual arts, theater, and dance, we are equipping our students with the tools they need to excel in all aspects of life, reflecting the core values of BCPS: commitment to excellence, lifelong learning, and community engagement.
Let's celebrate the power of arts in education and honor the talented students and dedicated educators who bring these values to life every day!

Congratulations, again, to Ms. Jessica Talley of Mt. Washington Middle School who was named one of only nine KY Teacher Award recipients out of over 500 applications statewide! 🎒 Tomorrow is the big day! 🌟
Thursday, September 12th, is High Attendance Day, and we’re excited to join schools across Kentucky in a friendly competition to see which school can achieve the highest attendance!
🏆 Let’s show the state how committed BCPS is to making every day count!
Remember, consistent school attendance is key to academic success. Students who attend regularly are more likely to develop essential life skills, build strong relationships, and achieve their goals. Missing just two days a month can add up to a whole year of lost learning by the end of high school!
Here in BCPS, we’re dedicated to supporting every student’s journey. Let’s come together to make tomorrow our highest attendance day yet and shine a spotlight on the importance of showing up, engaging, and thriving every day! 📚✨

🚧Important Update for our BCPS Community 🚧
BCPS will close schools on October 31 and November 1 for early voting due to recent changes in legislation allowing the Bullitt County Clerk to mandate the use of school facilities for early voting.
Given the safety and logistical issues this causes, BCPS regrettably must close school on October 31st and November 1st.
Despite our efforts to work with the County Clerk on alternative options, schools were chosen as voting sites. Learn more here: https://www.bullittschools.org/news.

🍗🎙️ Guess what day it is, BCPS??
Throwback to a fan-favorite episode of Beyond the Bell when Dr. Jesse Bacon sat down (or rather...walked around) with Maryville Elementary’s beloved Ms. Ellen and the legendary Chicken Patty Tuesday came up in their conversation! 🐔🍴
Ms. Ellen shared how every meal served is about more than just food—it’s about creating a welcoming environment where every student feels seen, cared for, and supported. Our cafeteria staff go above and beyond to make sure students start their day with a smile, one meal at a time.
On this Chicken Patty Tuesday, let’s appreciate the dedication and hard work of our cafeteria heroes who make a positive impact every single day! 🍽️❤️
