
Our annual Fall Mums fundraiser begins today! This year the mums are bigger and better and include the option to have them arrive in festive pots! This fundraiser helps the school with classroom projects, facility updates, teacher resources and technology, etc. With your help, we can help the students and the school prosper in their growing needs. Please ask your student about the packet they received today.

On 8/7/23 Eastside Middle School is excited to host Open House for 7th and 8th grade students from 5:30pm-7:30pm. You will be able to pick-up and drop-off items. Additionally, in-person spirit store items will be available for purchase. Venmo, cash, and checks are options for purchases (unfortunately credit/debt cards are not). Lastly, 7th and 8th grade schedules will go out by homeroom teachers Monday morning on the 7th.

Project Lead the Way - Each PLTW Gateway unit engages students in middle school STEM curriculum that not only builds knowledge and skills in areas including computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, but also empowers students to develop essential skills such as problem solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and perseverance. PLTW is used in the EMS Technology classroom.

Dress Code Expectations
2023-2024
EMS students must always dress in a manner that will not distract from the educational
environment. This includes Dress Down Days. The staff has the authority to deem articles
of clothing inappropriate for the school setting. If this occurs, the student will be isolated
until the issue is resolved. Students have the option of selecting items from the school’s
clothing closet or contacting an adult to provide appropriate attire.
Students are not permitted to expose shoulders, chest, belly, backside either when seated or
within normal range of motion (walking, raising your hand, etc.). At no time, during any
Eastside function will exposure of the midriff area be permitted (dances, games, field trips,
etc.).
• Eastside Spirit Wear – Must be purchased, provided, or approved through the office. Products from outside vendors or distributors are not permitted without approval. BEHS apparel permitted only on dress down days.
• T-shirts – Eastside apparel only.
• Polo Shirts – Eastside Spirit Wear or solid blue, gray, black or white, without a logo
• Sweatshirts/hoodies – Eastside Spirit Wear or solid blue, gray, black or white, without a logo
• Uniform Pants – Eastside Spirit Wear or khakis tan, black, blue, or gray without a logo. No cargo pockets.
• Shorts – Eastside Spirit Wear or khakis tan, black, blue, or gray without a logo. Shorts must be no more than three inches above the knee. No cargo pockets.
• Skirts and Dresses – Uniform skirts and dresses should be solid tan, black, blue, or gray. No more than three inches above the knee, including dress down days. Leggings or tights do not exempt the required length.
• Sweatpants/Warm Ups – Eastside Spirit Wear, Eastside-issued (club, sport, etc.) or solid blue, gray, or black loose-fitting sweatpants without a logo.
• Jeans – Only when permitted (i.e. dress down days) – No frays, no holes, no tears in fabric. Wearing undergarments such as leggings or taping holes/frays/tears is not permitted. Jeans must be solid material.
• Jackets/Coats – Eastside Spirit Wear or Eastside issued (club, sport, etc.) jackets are permitted. Other coats and jackets may be worn to and from school and during outside activities. Otherwise, they must remain in lockers including dress down days.
• Hats/Hoods – Not permitted to be worn in the building.
• No yoga pants, leggings as pants, or fishnet stockings at any time.
• Shoes – Must fully cover the foot. If wearing Crocs, the heel must be covered. No flip-flops, sandals or slides.
Dress Code Expectations continued
• Piercing is allowed in the ears only. No piercings on the face (nose, lip, cheek).
• Hair color must be consistent with natural hair color and may not be distracting in any way.
• Haircuts or styles should be out of the eyes and may not be distracting in any way; no lines, patterns, multi-levels, etc. Hair accessories may not be excessive or distracting. (i.e. No animal ears, elf ears, etc.)
• No distracting accessories such as gloves, fingerless gloves, arm warmers, chains,
• excessive jewelry, bandanas, or costume attire/accessories, including dress down days.
• Water bottles must be clear. No glass bottles are permitted. Please refer to your student’s team policy.
• Purses/bags will remain in lockers until dismissal.
1st offense - verbal warning; change into appropriate attire*
2nd offense - phone call home; change into appropriate attire*
3rd offense and above - ISAP
*If a student is loaned any Eastside apparel, those items must be returned by the end of the school day. Failure to return those items will result in disciplinary action that could include No Flight, No Celebration, etc.
The school reserves final judgment as to the appropriateness of any dress code item or
issue.

Eastside Middle School currently has EXTRA YEARBOOKS from the 2022-23 school year for sale. If interested come by the school on June 14th, June 15th, June 20th through June 22nd, July 10th through July 13th from 8am to noon. There are limited available. Cost is 30 dollars. First come first serve.
