NES Weekly Attendance for 11/8-11/10!
Every year, NES loves to celebrate the Veterans of our community. This morning, the whole school gathered for the Pledge of Allegiance, as well as the singing of our National Anthem by our 4th and 5th graders.
Our very own Mrs. Dawn Smith, Army Veteran, spoke to our students about the importance of Veterans Day and how vital our military is to building community. She also honored POW Thomas Franklin Brooks, who is one of our students great uncles. PFC Brooks was very recently brought back home and properly laid to rest on October 1st.
Together, we watched our Veterans Day slideshow. Our students and staff have SO many people to be proud of! We also listened to Mrs. Landry's reading of "America's White Table" by Margot Theis Raven. On the way out of our assembly, the students got to walk by our very own white table which was set in remembrance for Veterans that we have lost. The teachers and staff of Nichols want to thank all who served.
Reminder- NO SCHOOL! Today, Monday 11/6, is a Bullitt Day. Tomorrow, 11/7, is a Professional Development Day so we will also be closed.

Once again, we had WAY too much fun with ReMix Education! Since it's Red Ribbon Week, they stopped by to talk to us about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, all while having a ball! Thank you, Mrs. Belcher, for asking ReMix to come visit!

What a great turnout for Lunch with Someone Special! We hope that both you and your students had a great time! We hope to do it again in the near future. :)
Yesterday was our very first Knights Charge! At the end of each quarter, we are celebrating our Knights that have led the charge of excellence! Students with zero office referrals and no missing assignments got to choose an afternoon activity.
Our kiddos got to make chalk art, play sports and games in the gym, have some free time on their chromebook or read with flashlights in the library. It was a great afternoon! We're already looking forward to Q2's Knights Charge!
