Dear BCPS Families,
Due to a high number of student and staff absences from illness, BCPS schools will be closed for the next three days: February 5th, 6th, and 7th. This will be a traditional closure, meaning we will NOT utilize Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) during this time. There are three main reasons for the decision not to utilize NTI:
-Maximizing Instructional Time – While NTI can be an effective tool, three consecutive days of remote instruction make it difficult to ensure meaningful learning experiences for our students.
-Deep Cleaning and Sanitization – Our custodial teams need uninterrupted time to thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sanitize our buildings. Keeping students and staff out of the building during the day will allow this to efficiently take place.
-Student and Staff Well-Being – Many students and staff are too unwell to participate in virtual learning. A shift to NTI wouldn’t be effective if a large percentage of our school community is unable to engage.
This decision was made to prioritize the health and well-being of our school community. During this closure, all school facilities will undergo thorough cleaning and sanitization to ensure a safe environment when students and staff return.
We encourage families to take necessary health precautions and rest if feeling unwell. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to keep our community safe. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school. Stay healthy and take care.

BCPS was busy celebrating 100 days of #MovingForward across the district today! Check out these smiles! 😎
