CTE Month: Exploration, experience and preparation; these are the words Aviation Instructor Robert Dickson and students Conner Pike and Danica Haney use to describe what they get out of the Bullitt County ATC’s aviation program.

The KY Office of Career and Technical Education recognized the PBL work of our teachers and students on Social Media. We are proud of the work they are doing.

Congratulations ot Dane Everhart for completing his Welding Certification.

Congrats to ATC/ROC student Chandler Capps. Chandler completed the ATC Aviation Program, passed his FAA Private Pilot Written Exam, and will complete 24 hours of dual credit in aviation maintenance at JCTC. Chandler is getting closer to his dream of becoming an air force pilot. Congratulations to Chandler. #KYCTEEMpowerED #CTEWorks #MovingForward

The EMT class was visited today by Bullitt County Judge Executive, Jerry Summers and the Director of the Bullitt County EMS, Chris Hale. Judge Summers told the students how grateful he was for their commitment and, as with past cohorts, that they would be guaranteed a job with Bullitt County EMS on completion of their certifications. The students asked great questions and spoke of some of their experiences on their ambulance ride-a-longs.
Judge Summers awarded the group with Bullitt County EMS t-shirts on behalf of the Bullitt County Fiscal Court. The EMT partnership between the ATC, Jefferson Technical & Community College, Bullitt County Schools, Bullitt County Fiscal Court, and the Bullitt County EMS is the only high school dual credit cohort in the state of Kentucky. To date this program has already placed 9 graduates into the Bullitt County EMS helping to fill the need for more EMT's in our community.. The EMT program is a model of what can happen when the schools and local government work together to address the needs of the community.

The Area Technology Center hosted Technical Opportunity NIght on February 1st at the Bullitt Central Library. The evening was a tremendous success as the standing-room only crowd of over 200 people learned about all of high-demand career opportunities offered to students.

The Bullitt County Area Technology Center is proud to host Technical Opportunity Night on.February 1st at Bullitt Central High School starting at 5:30 PM. Please check our NEWS page for details. https://www.bullittschools.org/o/atc/article/1394872
Hope to see you on Feb. 1st.

Today I took some time and visited the Bullitt County Area Technology Center to check in on our students and staff there. We have some remarkably innovative programs and projects going on there. Mr Vincent and his staff work hard to make community connections that allow students to have real-world experiences that prepare them for future careers. Such great work taking place there!!!

Bullitt County, since it has an appropriately sized public school district, is able to have this amazing opportunity for their highschoolers. These are pictures from my tour last week of the Bullitt County Area Technology Center. Principal Vincent is doing a phenomenal job at preparing these kids for adulthood. They have responsibilities, leadership roles, and are held accountable. They're getting hands-on training and learning problem-solving skills. I was very impressed and am really glad these driven young people have this.
You'll see in the pictures items they've built (including a Tiny Home) and projects for which they've won awards (including a bridge made of only cardboard and glue that can hold 415lbs!!). The BCATC offers:
Automotive Technology, Business Education, Computerized Manufacturing and Machining, Health Sciences, Information Technology, and Welding Technology. This benefits not only the students, but our workforce and society as a whole. I really enjoyed my time that day (and could've stayed for another three or four hours). A big thank you to Principal Vincent and his amazing staff for their time with me and for their passion for our kiddos and their future.

FYI Families: Internet and phone lines are currently down at our ATC, BAC, and ROC facilities. Everyone is safe and secure, and we have crews working to rectify the issue, but there will be some delay in getting service re-established for these buildings.

Area Technology Center Transportation. (New students attending from BEHS and NBHS)
During our first block , 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM, we will welcome first year students from Bullitt East and North Bullitt High Schools.
Bullitt East students should have access to two shuttle busses that will be in the back of the building with all other busses dropping off in the AM. These busses will usually be at the front of the line so that they bring students to the ATC at approximately 7:05 AM. There will be adults outside monitoring busses that can help direct students to the shuttles.
North Bullitt will have a shuttle bus in front of the school ready to head out at 7:05. It should be up front between NBHS and Hebron Middle School. There will be adults outside to help direct student to shuttles.
Students arrive at ATC at 7:20 and have class until 9:00. Shuttles will then return students to BEHS and NBHS respectively.
Thank you,
Darrell Vincent --- Principal Bullitt County ATC

Bullitt County Area Technology Center hosted a Tiny Home reveal event today. Mr. Jackson's Carpentry and Mr. Ashford's Electrical students have framed the inside of the tiny home and wired the electrical systems including solar panels. Students in the high school engineering programs and the BAMS program have created innovative ideas to add to this tiny home that is being developed for victims of human trafficking. The home will be handicapped accessible. The Bullitt County ATC, Bullitt County Public Schools, and GE Appliances have partnered on this project. Mike Ekbundit from General Electric has worked with the BAMS students for several years but this year's project has expanded to multiple schools and programs. This authentic work has excited both teachers and students and we are excited to see the innovations and final product as this continues to unfold.
