Students in Mrs. Spratt's 7th grade science classes are learning about endothermic and exothermic chemical reactions to determine the best design for a portable reptile egg incubator.
This week continues our kindness week. For Valentine's Day we want our students to focus spreading kindness to everyone around them. These students were chosen as winners for our random acts of kindness challenge! Happy Valentine's Day, ZMS family! ❤️💖
Mrs. Starks and Mr. Boston co-taught in stations for 7th grade language arts. Students worked to understand how to write an effective argumentative claim, complete a group writing prompt, work on a paragraph puzzle and more for their argument writing unit. Mrs. Voight also hosted a station and worked with small groups on finding library books to meet student interests.

Did you know the ZMS Library hosts monthly reading challenges? Students can complete optional tic-tac-toe choice boards with activities such as reading outside, reading to a younger family member, reading an ebook online, making their own book cover, and so much more. Students who complete at least 3 activities receive a button and a prize! (The mustache stickers were popular this time for the Dec/Jan challenge)
Students in Mrs. Jaggers' 6th grade language arts classes collaborated to create objective summaries on short stories they've read.
Students from Bus 1718 were rewarded with a sweet treat for following bus expectations with excellance.
This week we would like to show our appreciation for some of the best ladies around! It's School Counselor week as well as Family Resource Youth Services Center (FRYSC) week! These ladies work hard to take care of our students' needs in many ways.

Congratulations to our staff and students of the month for February! These folks all demonstrate our PACK values- Pride, Accountability, Courage and Kindness. #zonetonstrong #bepartofthePACK
Parents/guardians, we need your help! Many students are coming to school without charging their chromebooks OR they've lost their charger. This causes issues for our teachers to be able to give instruction effectively.
Per BCPS policy, lost chargers are NOT covered under the one free repair part. Every student was provided a charger at the beginning of the school year. If they have lost theirs, it is the family's responsibility to purchase another one. All chromebooks use a USB-C type. Something like this from Amazon would work well: https://a.co/d/9ACiclx
Absolutely huge shoutout to 8th grader Cheyenne Harley for making the All-State Band! This is a prestigious honor for which the BCPS Board of Education recognized Cheyenne. We are so proud of her musical talent and hard work!
